A few weeks ago, we were able to escape for a short ocean-side getaway. My husband and I have always felt that traveling in the car for long distances always ends up bringing us closer together. Our first anniversary trip was a week long of driving up the coast and stopping at new places each night, so any long trip (especially near the ocean) always reminds me of those days. We gathered up our things when he got off of work and we were on our way.
This was the first long road trip that our son had been on now that his car seat is forward facing, so we were curious to see how he would do. By the time we arrived to our hotel on the beach, (after stopping for dinner and a visit with family) he was ready to get out of the car! I must admit though that he did do really well! He complained about not wanting to be buckled, but he never started to cry about it. He just kept repeating “bu-ble” (aka buckle 😉 )
But let me tell you; the moment that he saw the ocean, he was suddenly not tired and was very excited! (Which was very interesting to me since he only has been to the ocean 2 other times…guess he takes after his mama!) We got to our room and instantly went to the balcony to see the sunset over the ocean. I had always told my husband that I would one day like to rent a beach house with some family and stay for a few days, so I am sure that is why he chose that specific hotel right on the beach. The view was absolutely gorgeous!
That night was rough, mostly because we arrived about an hour after my son’s bedtime, he was excited about the ocean, and he’s a horrible sleeper when he is away from home. But, we made it through the night (with minimal crying…from me, ha! I kid….a little… 😉 ). The hotel offered breakfast there, so we went to get some coffee and a muffin and went back to sit on our little balcony. Anyone else just find it so relaxing to wake up to the sound of the ocean’s waves? I love it!
*I was gifted this swimsuit from Rad Swim in exchange for an honest review. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
We put on our swimsuits and gathered our things to walk down to the beach. I love the Heather Floral suit from Rad Swim that I wore for this trip. It is so cute and girly and perfect for spring! I always had trouble finding cute one pieces when I was a kid, but I absolutely love this one! It is perfect for anyone who wants just a little more coverage. Rad Swim has so many other great options for everyone!
We spent the morning playing in the sand (our toddler is obsessed with sand right now, so he was pretty much freaking out, haha!), running away from the water (it was freezing!) and just sitting on the beach together. It was so fun to get away from everything and enjoy each other’s company. I’m hoping to have so many other memories like this this summer!
